Welcome to Gwyl Cân Ar Dân, 2007
What
are your plans for the last weekend in June? How about spending
a few days in the beautiful surroundings of the upper Dyfi Valley
enjoying a mixture of music and experiencing the culture of a
variety of small nations?
Come
to the Tafarn y Llew Coch (Red Lion Inn), Dinas Mawddwy and the
Gwyl Cân Ar Dân music festival, where a feast of music
awaits. In addition to the live music you also have the opportunity
to take part in the Summer School and receive tuition in traditional
instruments from experts in their craft. You will enjoy a very
warm welcome from the local community in this special event.
The
festival has been running for seven years and draws an audience
of all ages and tastes. The Llew Coch has been a gathering point
for musicians of many different kinds for generations and on the
30th June, bands and artists of all kinds will be performing on
stage at the rear of the Inn.
If
you want good beer, good company and good music, there is only
one place to be the 30th of June, and that is Gwyl Cân Ar
Dân.
*Cân Ar Dân translates literally as "A song on
fire". We can't find a more suitable translation but these
are the meanings of the individual words if you'd like to come
up with your own:
Cân = Songs / Music, Ar = on, Dân = Fire / Flame,
so it could be Fire Music or Songs on Fire perhaps. Answers on
a postcard?
Fàilte gu Gwyl Cân Ar Dân.
Dè
a tha thu am am beachd a dhèanamh air a’ chiad deireadh-sheachdain
dhen Iuchair? Dè mu dheidhinn latha no dhà a chur
seachad ann an ceann shuas Gleann Dyfi ag èisteachd ri
ceòl agus a’ faighinn blasad de chultar iomadach
dùthaich bheag?
Trobhad
gu Tafarn y Llew Coch (Taigh-seinnse an Leòmhainn Dheirg),
Dinas Mawddwy agus fèis ciùil Gwyl Cân Ar
Dân, far a bheil deagh cheòl a’ feitheamh riut.
A bharrachd air èisteachd ri ceòl beò, bidh

fhaighinn ann an ceòl traidiseanta bho fheadhainn cho math
’s a th’ air a’ cheòl sin a chluich.
Gheibh thu fàilte chridheil bhon choimhearsnachd ionadail
airson an tachartais shònraichte seo.
Tha
an fhèis air a bhith a’ dol airson sia bliadhna a-nis
agus bidh a h-uile seòrsa daoine a’ frithealadh na
fèise. Bidh òigridh agus daoine nas sine agus daoine
leis ùidh ann an diofar seorsachan ciùil a’
frithealadh na fèise. Tha an Llew Coch air a bhith na àite
cruinneachaidh do luchd-ciùil dhe gach ginealach agus air
a’ 1mh agus an 2mh dhen Iuchair, bidh còmhlain agus

chan eil ann ach aon àite far am bu chòir dhut a

mar sin ‘s e Ceòl na Theine as ciall dha.
